tyres how does the vtr handle

Hi guys for the storm what are the best road tyres I have been told itsThe Michelin Pilot Road 4 not I see conti attack and maxxas do tyres bearing in mind am use to my race tyres on track so as going back to the road total diffrent from my cbr600 now what your thoughts

You are likely to get a different answer from each rider!

But after a few people mentioned the good road holding qualities of the PR2/3/4's I tried them and love them.

Great for mileage, impressive grip in wet & dry.

They do withstand track days but can overheat much quicker than sports rubber, but then you won't be worried about that, as you'll have different tyres for the track.

Same here, tried the PR3 but preferred the 2 as it has less cuts in it and feels more stable.... Also costs less

PR2's just gone up in price, still cheaper than PR3 but they've closed the gap a bit.

op, how long do you want your tyres to last ?, if your not bothered about mileage then the usual Pirelli rosso2 or rosso corsa, Dunlop sportsmart, Metz M7rr, etc they're all good, if you want mileage then Michelin PR range or Dunlop roadsmart 2 are probably best of the bunch.

I just fitted PR4's and think they are brilliant.

But....

1. What am I comparing them too?? ? Old worn out tyres. Hardly a comparison.
2. I've only done 100ks
3. What type of ridind and conditions do you ride in?

Its hard to separate the feeling of a new correctly shaped tyre.... it will always feel better.
The PR4's transformed my bike... but I think all that says, is how stuffed my PR2's were!

I notice improvement even at 50ks...
Initiating a cornor is now almost automatic.... tip in etc...
Braking vastly improved.
Road contact improved
Quiter and smoother...

But that could be said for any new tyre I guess :-)

An Update on the PR4's

I have been for 2 or 3 rides with my friend who is also a fellow VTR rider.
His bike has the PR3's fitted and would 75% worn out!
We pretty much ride at the same level and the same speed, although he can slowly pull away from me when his brain snaps and we are 10minutes from home Mainly he gets me at corner entrance speed, sometimes i just shake my head, because on my old PR2's (70% worn) following him, i would never enter at that speed, it just didn't feel safe.

Now.....

First ride with him with my new PR4's, i found myself waiting for him every 5 minutes.
He commented that i was riding fast. I said, "strange, because i am riding well within my limits and honestly was only cruising, feeling relaxed and enjoying myself"

The next hour we realised, the new tyres were doing all the work. I wasn't fighting the bike, my lines were better, grip was up, confidence was up... Smooth is fast and fast is smooth ;)
By the end of the day, he looked at his PR3 (70% gone) and said, thats it, i'm getting new ones.

To add to this, i rode with my mate the LAST day of my old PR2's (tyre at the wear marks) and it was diabolical!
Rear wheel lock ups under heavy or sudden braking (found that out when i had to stop for car), skipping across the road and just a general feeling it was going to let go at any point. And there was NO WAY i'd be riding in the wet.

So i still can tell anyone which tyre is better.... But a new Michilen is better than a worn or even half worn Michelin.

Well impressed

They worked really well last year on op storm Yorkshire in the wet

I had the storm 2 and really liked them
Atm I have the maxxis 3ds and they DONT like the wet at all but fantastic in dry

Any update on tyres?
I'm needing to replace my Pilot Roads next weekend, those of you have been out with me know that the edges are hardly used so out and out performance is not an issue, keeping the middle from going flat too quick is?
Suggestions please?
