Where is your spiritual biking home?

Post by Redthunder »

Arrived at my Nirvana this afternoon better than I remember from 2 Years ago...Isle of Skye.
Beautiful views around every corner, fast open sweepers, good surfaces, friendly people and fantastic food and ale...ok so the weather not quite so good but OMG I'm moving here when I retire.

For me has to be the passes in the lakes ,kirkstone etc, very happy memories of many weekends with the lads racing around then stopping for ice cream at the side of Windermere ,wish I could go back on time but the lads are all married now and don't have bikes.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Well my biking home is fighting my way through traffic in London. Not sure how spiritual that is though.

I have a dream to do route 66 one day.

for me since 1980 its the A2 coast road from larne just above Belfast up to portrush. stunning views and twisty fast tarmac most of the way no more than feet away from the sea....if your ever over here in northern Ireland its a must do road..and at its end every may is the northwest 200.. :D

road up to applecross does it for me. The last bit up the alpine road is a bit hairy when you meet things coming the other way but well worth it!

Cadwell Park and Otley to blubberhouses (Yorkshire) but I know every bump, Tarmac banding and crevice of the Horncastle to Caistor road (lincs)

+1 wi the route 66 carl.. have you seen how much it costs tho? it gets alot cheaper if you can get a big group. i not so keen on harley type things but i would have to do it on a juke box style bike just to fit with the whole holiday.

also i like the look of that road in the film "duel" that looks an ace road too
