Where to fit Scottoiler reservoir/metering unit ?

Post by Martyjuk »

Have recently purchased a Scottoiler after several 600 mile round trips from Kent to Devon.
Found I was having to lube and adjust chain regularly!

Had good results years ago with one fitted to a Suzuki DR400 so thought would try one on the Storm.

Any suggestions (clean ones please!) as to the best place to attach the main unit?

Thanks chaps, Martin

I've got mine behind the main fuse on the subframe hidden within the tail plastics. Just need to take the seat off to refill and adjust.

Mine's tucked into the tail plastics, LH side, just rearward of the starter relay.
You can get to the filler once the seat's off.

Set to keep the chain oiled but barely any fling on the tyre, it runs for 300 miles before needing to be filled.

If your journeys are more than 400 miles I'd suggest their touring one, which sits behind the number plate, and is a fair bit larger.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Don't make the same mistake as I did, I picked up the wrong oil, I got the winter grade instead of summer  and it flings it all over the place, makes a right mess

I am going to have a go at a simple Loobman chain oiler , dont fancy taking
the seat on and orf to top up... not worked out yet the small container location
but its going to left side where a simple press of the bulb gets the oil on its way..
Ive noted all the usefull comments here thanks ..

I've gone the Loobman route recently.
I've just tucked mine under the rear left foot peg hanger to see how I get on with it for the time being.

I've just used a couple of cable ties for the moment but it's good enough to get an idea of how well I'll get on with it..or not :)

As you can see, it misses the swing arm and I can press the button whilst sitting on the bike if I have to.

thats a nice neat job there m8tey ..hey did you go for the double sided
applicator or the simple center tube ? Good pics though I thought the
info from them could be simpler and printed out better. I have finally
found a use for some sae gear oil thats been lurking in my garage about for ages ..

I've just taken the double sided applicator off last Monday night.
I found it to be a bit of a nuissance, it kept opening up and dropping the cable tie tips out every now and again so I had to constantly keep checking it.
I'm now just running the sigle cable tie tip and I'll see how that goes for a couple of weeks
