You are getting a really nice finish, it's all coming along nicely. I'm looking forward to see the process on the tank and the masking off and which colours you do first.

I only used the red tank to allow marking up of the front fairing. The 19l tank is in white and lacquer, now drying.

cybercarl wrote:Looks good. I see you have a 19l tank as well. Is it the lighting or has it had a bit of filling on the right hand side of the pic. Just as you follow the line back from the the oval shape that's recessed and on the outer point.

Hee hee, No it's just that I have done a fair bit of filling and rubbing down over the years so It catches my eye. Also I have 19L tank so I know the the difference in the oval recessed shape at the sides of the tank and how the lines run.

Don't know if it had filler. Bought it from a forum member who had bought it from another!

Just took the tape off one side of fairing. Tiny bit of bleed through in a couple of places which can be sorted but generally happy:- Image

Ouch don't you just hate that when you peel it back and see a bit of bleed through. And Blue against White stands out as well. :( give the bit that has bled a careful wet n dry to get rid of it. I take it you still have to lacquer over everything so don't worry about loosing a bit of gloss on the White.

The white was lacquered and dried for a week then blue done with lacquer last weekend.

Wish I'd made top stripe a bit wider :-\

Are you using a spray gun or Rattle cans? I think when it comes to stripes, is to use tape of various widths. You can get everything spot on then. I think the reason you got a bit of bleed is either you where too close when spraying or you have put to heavy a coat on. Either way it's creped under a gap in the tape. It disheartening when things like that happen as all the work is the prep. I had a whole panel react to lacquer and had to rub it all back and start again.

Spray gun. It's only the second bike have ever painted so far from perfect but the trick is not to rush.

The other side fairing much better. Guess the tape wasn't quite pressed on enough.
Not bad for an improver though.

Not bad at all. It's very good. I have yet to try a spray gun. I don't have the facilities for it, so have to use rattle cans out in the back yard in nice weather.
