Op Storm III: Riding up from the South on Friday 24th

Post by geodude »

Change of plan. I can't ride up on the Thursday now so....

Friday morning
I’ll be leaving Southampton in the morning and heading up to Belper to visit in-laws and crash there the night. Not sure which route yet, I’ll let the TomTom Winding roads button decide. It'll be twisty A/B roads all the way :)

If anyone wants to hook up on the way, let me know where you are and I’ll try and plan a route accordingly. It will probably be something like Salisbury, Oxford, Rugby, Nuneaton, Burton on Trent, Ashbourne and Belper.

Obviously you'll have to carry on up to Squires.

playerone - Wanna meet somewhere between Salisbury and Oxford?
Tony, bazza, Jonesy - Wanna meet at Oxford?
Next meet point could be Rugby, anyone interested?

Saturday morning
Leaving at 8am I’ll be riding up from Belper to Squires - M1, M18, A1M to arrive for 9am

Saturday evening
Heading back to Belper after the main ride.

Looks good, Oxford it is.

Not sure of time yet, but as I have the whole day off I'm not too fussed, as long as we get there before closing time!

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

You think you can get here for 10am
http://goo.gl/maps/GPcEr

Kent to Oxford by 10am
Oxford to Belper by 3pm (twisty roads with a few fuel/pee stops and a bite to eat on way)
Belper to Squires by 4:30. Plenty of drinking time

Yeah I reckon you will piss Derbyshire to squires in an hour. I'm down that way for work all the time and can make it in an hour cruising between 80 and 90 in the car.

Hi Geo, I have to visit my Father on the friday, he lives in Eaton near Norwich so will be riding up after that.
I've got to get in touch with Tony and Bazza to see if a meet can be arranged on the way so am open to all ideas.

Chris,

I am free all Friday and I don't have to worry about packing the bike up with luggage as we will have a tent waiting for us.

what time were you thinking? I thought that you was coming for bacon rolls and coffee. I would like to leave around 10 to 11ish, get up there for just before 3.

its around a 4 hour ride from mine

would have to give this meeting point a miss, this adds another 100 miles to the journey.
