Honda big weekend 20th April 2013

Post by Diabolus »

I called in at Grantham honda today, to meet a few mates and we all had a test ride on this:

CBR500R This bike is a real eye opener, an economical parallel twin thats planted in the bends and can stop as well as it goes. It hasnt got the pull like the storm but 80mpg ??? Is it the future of biking ???

although it looks sporty its riding position is between upright and sports, very comfy. its really got me thinking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I think Honda are going to do well with these ! thumbsup

For me this kinda bike is not going to give a grin factor like the storm can give but as a allrounder/commuter type bike its spot on, the used prices in a few years should be low its only £4,995 new

Looks like a nice bike but whats the point in 80mpg? takes away the fun in playing "can I find a petrol station before I run out of fuel"

I bet road tax is next to £0.

It's even more fun if you don't really know where you are

I saw a photo of the new CBR the other week and it looks ugly. Is has a massive mouth on the front. I am hoping that that 500 does not look the same from the front.

I saw one in Castle honda a few weeks ago when I was looking for a bike for Sarah.

I thought they looked lovely, if maybe a little small. They are for the new licence and power restrictions aren't they? Didn't realise they were a twin, I assumed they were a 4 pot.

Are they replacing the 600 with this?

they won't replace they 600 race rep mate, they need a production based middleweight class to go racing with,

MCN had some feature that 600's sales are rising again after many years of decline to the 1000 class, back in the 90's and early 2000's iirc more 600's was being sold than 1000cc bikes and that changed around the mid 2000's

I registered for this, they had free raffles and a chance to win one, so went up to 21st Moto in Swanley today- shut.

Some dealers just don't seem bothered any more.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I thought biking was not about being sensible. I would never dream of getting shot of the Storm for something like that even with the fuel economy. I would prefer the SV 650 it i had to choose. :D
