Have you set you spell checker to UK English
My uncle used to keep snakes but had to get rid of them in the end as they where getting a bit big and one attacked him one day when it was a bit hungry. I love snakes but I couldn't handle the mice.
I was considering some terrapins once I think they are quite cute. But pets take a lot of looking after. I used to keep freshwater tropical fish and as you know the work involved keeping the water condition right and having to clean the tank out and stuff is a serious commitment.

At my old house before we had children I painted the walls black, put down black carpet and put heaters in this spare room
Tank 1
1 adult Iguana
2 adult water dragons.
Tank 2
2 Leopard Gekos
Tank 3
Chameleon
Tank 4
6 Tokay gekos
Tank 5
13 foot burmesse python
Tank 6
Gold brazilian Teku
I had lots of other stuff including a West african ball python in my bedroom, Tarantulas and Preying mantis, Assasin bugs, I was well proud of the salmon pink bird eater I had.
Now I just have 2 leopard gekos and a flame knee tarantula which belongs to my wife.

We had a leopard geko for a few yrs, was the eldest daughters pet but as usual guess who had to look after it and also feed the crickets ( its a strange thing when you have to feed the food!)

I got the beardie off a girl that didn't look after him very well he had the wrong lighting and a poor set up
he had MBD (Metabolic Bone Disease) when i got him unfortunately but he still gave him all i could
Gave him the correct Lighting setup and environment,
Fully Straight he was 23 inch but it was bloody hard to get him to lie still and straight next to a tape
