running rough
Got my storm back on the road the other day after new motor been stuck in it and every thing seems fine....until you ride it.
If I hold it about 4-5rpm it stutters thru the rev range in all gears. I have stripped the carbs more then once today and checked coil packs plus plugs.
Using 190 jets with two turns on the pilot screws. Needle hight is on number
4. Pulling the coke on don't help still does it.. like trying to ride a bull
Any idea?

Re: running rough
Check all hoses are fitted correctly, unkinked and with no leaks - esp the vacuum hose that fits to the fuel tap, round the back not the more obvious but wrong 'spigot' on the bottom.
Try cracking open a pepsi, failing that a redbull and hang on tight4. Pulling the coke on don't help still does it.. like trying to ride a bull

Re: running rough
Shouldn't the main jets be different for the front and back carbs or am I imagining that? Someone who knows will be along soon.....thumperslaw wrote:Got my storm back on the road the other day after new motor been stuck in it and every thing seems fine....until you ride it.

Worth checking the vacuum hose placement though. It has been done before.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Re: running rough
As standard the jet sizes are slightly different front and rear, but with a jet kit they are often recommended to be the same.
Get it on a dyno and if the operator's skilled enough and experienced with Storms he'll be able to try both options and show you the differences on the charts.

That's the next step is get it fine tuned on dyno. First I want to get it running right.

Re: running rough
sounds very much like the problems ziggy had with his & turned out to be a bad tankfull of fuel.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Try a standard OEM air filter to try and get everything back to 'normal'.I washed the k&n filter

Not if it's just for test purposes.thumperslaw wrote:I would but that means changing full system and going back to standard jetting

Just try running the bike with no filter in the airbox for a mile or two.
It won't do any damage over that short time.
If it runs ok, it's your over-enthusiastic oiling of the filter- you won't be the first.
