HELLO BOYS - I'M BACK AS WELL

Post by Jaglifter »

or soon will be.

Just won an auction on e-blag for SP-Y.
Needs work but hope to be out by spring time.
Pic when I've got it and remembered how to do them!

Now have 5 bikes so think i need to sell one or two.

Sounds like a cue for a reunion........ best start the debate now so we'll be ready by about July 2011.

Good to hear from you all. :D

Been busy building a couple of Velocette bikes (old school - factory closed in 1971), selling my Jaguar stuff and building up my workshop.
Also have a 1/2 share in my youngest's Triumph Daytona 675.

Hopefully be able to get the SP roadworthy fairly quickly - but its just too bloody cold to get out in the garage just now!

John,
Velocette's, classic stuff eh. It certainly sounds like you've been busy.

What do you think of the Triumph Daytona 675 :?: they look a nice bike.

Sirch

The Velo is a 1948 KSS - 350cc overhead camshaft - rigid frame. Had one when I was 18 or so and always regretted selling it (as you do). So bought one a few years ago and refurbished it. Currently building another, plus nearly finished a Velocette Valiant (200cc air cooled shaft drive flat twin).

The Daytona is an awsome bike (overworked word I know). On the road its the fastest bike I've ridden, very light and more powerful than I thought it would be. However its very tall and I have difficulty adjusting to it after the Velo, which is very low and has bugger all power by comparison. Also my son insists on fitting it with Dragon Supercoursas (or somesuch) which are very expensive and last about 1000 miles and I feel bad about flattening 'em by riding to Derby and back!!

That said, I find the SP easier to ride and more comfortable, plus its a vee twin!!

Given I'm now 62 (soon to be 63) I'm thinking I need to fill my boots before I'm too old for anything more exciting than a mobility scooter.

Only 1000mls?
Go the wiggly way via a track day), and wreck them for a reason!

And to my way of thinking I need to fill my boots before I'm buried in them.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

quite a collection now lol, supercorsas, pilot road, pilot road 2, diabolo rossas, and these dragons, plus whats on the bikes now!

re velos, a guy who lives near my mum had a few minters.... one of the old watercooled 250s which looked real wierd and a couple of others... oh and an oddball 3 wheeler with the single wheel at the back, like a vintage canam... he had allsorts of old bikes and a few prewar cars that he used to show... wonder if he's still kicking lol, jeez that was ages ago!

Benny

They're very good on the Triumph!

The Velo would be an LE (for Little Engine).

3 Wheeler may have been a Berkley (front wheel drive ,Villiers 3 cyl 2 stroke and 8in 2LS front brakes).

Its getting hot here - must be my anorak............
