Track day in the wet

Post by Giddsy »

Right then..

I'm going to be selling the storm and moving to Oz very soon. I have never done a track day and really want to. I was looking at this weekend for Lydden Hill but now weather looks like it's going to be proper shite.

I could wait but the next one available / possible would be Brands Hatch end of Oct and I really wanted to have bike flogged by then... But at a push could hold on to it for a bit longer!

Has anyone ever done a wet track day? Have heard it said that you learn a lot from it but then to be honest what I really want to do is hoon around without worrying about the wet...

What ya thinking?!

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

I've done one in the wet :D
Notice I said one, singular. All you end up doing is seeing how much beans you can give it exiting the bends without spinning the wheel too much. Fun for a while but boring after a bit. Then you get to sh1t yourself trying to stop without locking up the front wheel at the end of the straight. :eek2
Give me a sunny day anytime, unless you have a track bike with full wets and you're not worried about leaving a few battle scars on your pride and joy

Have a good one :D
Don't try to do too much too quick, give yourself time to get a feel of the track and your bike. Get the tyres nice and warm and have a blast! The speed will come, you just have to stay relaxed

Be smoooooooooooth and watch the brakes. Circuits often have grippier tarmac than the usual polished limestone cack they put on the roads. My cousin resurfaced Ty Croes - he's an upmarket Pikey
