New here but had the VTR for over a year.........

Post by Fatman »

Hi folks, just joined the forum here but had my 98 storm for 18 months now.
I live in St Albans and work in London.
Did 27k miles in my first year with my daily commute and loads of riding for fun.
Just finished an engine transplant due to the big end going on the last one when the oil pump failed and the thing boiled over.....
Wouldn't get rid of my storm for anything else, it's with me till its end now.......

Also got a 30yr old GS650G katana and an 29yr old1100Kat for my sins....

Would love another storm to start playing with, anyone up for some ride outs or an OJ and a chat let me know.
I'm sure you folks are going to be a wealth of knowledge and look forward to being a part of the forum.

Welcome fatman

Sure, I'll come out to play
I do a fair few spins in and around St Albans (pit stop, The Fighting Cocks) so I'll let you know when I/we go out for one.

Hey, there.

What did you do with the old engine, by the way?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Sorry not been around for a while work etc. blah blah blah...
In answer to your Q about the old engine, it's currently under cover in my back garden, pretty sure it's a big end gone as it ran dry of oil.

Finally got the new motor running sweet, the previous owner had messed about with the timing and the rear cylinder was 180deg out, no wonder the bloody thing felt like a single......
Anyhow just got the thing running sweet and some juggler in a silver astra knocked me off on the M1 last Friday on the way home from work, then whilst the 4 witnesses were looking after me and calling the emergency services the toad did a runner and i got no details.....fecking pondlife.

Good job it's Christmas and i got a few weeks for the broken ribs and other bits to start to heal.

So if anyone knows where there is a left hand side fairing panel please let me know cos I'm sure the insurance are gonna write it off as a CAT D so I'll be looking to put her back on the road yet again.

Sorry to hear about the accident, that is a bummer after you just got the engine working............one step forwards one step back.

Hope the ribs heal fast enough for you to enjoy the drinking and laughing over christmas
