Best screen for six footers

Post by staggy »

Any suggestions on the best screen to keep the wind blast off a 6' 2er?

Hi Staggy - At a half inch under 6'2", I suggest grabbing a double-bubble screen - my Storm has one (came on the bike) and 'works' great - in that the resultant airflow is raised (and slightly parted) above where it would otherwise be (my neck) and I personally find that more comfortable.

Here's a few links:

The effectiveness of double bubbles is much debated (it works for some). If you want to know if it will make any difference (for you), use the old courier hack - (solidly) gaffer tape an old visor upside down on your screen and see how it feels.

Bought a cheap one off ebay and it does the job fine. Much improved over standard screen. There was a thread about them on the old site - I think they were about 15 quid. Some had issues but i'm well happy at that price.

Be wary of getting too much screen as the stability of the bike does change with the taller screen.

Search for superhawk stuff on ebay as some stuff doesn't come up if you just search firestorm. :D

Cranked the X11 up yesterday too. Started first press after 4 months. Optimates are well worth the money in my opinion.

At 6' 2" tall I found that using a DB screen was good at keeping wind off the chest area, but it increased the weight on my wrists while riding as it kept the wind off my chest area!!!!
I use the standard one again now to allow the wind pressure at speed to 'lift' my upper body so as to elleviate too much wrist ache (ooh err missus)
