I've had the same problem, spam mail that is not the d**k patch

Stevie,
I had been getting around 30 spam emails per day and it only started recently. What I have done is put their addresses into a list (on my email site) that blocks them, that seems to have done the trick so far :!:

I use hotmail and they need the address bit after the @.

Chris...you been lookin at prawn 'sites :?:

Seriously..i use windows mail ,(vista),and can create message rules,ie,where subject line contains the word "spam" do not download from server,or delete from server, but wary of doing this incase somehow an important email is wrongly marked as spam, and i dont recieve it.

There always about viagra or similar, rock extensions , or casinos, thats it,never anything else.......and ive never, ever been on a casino or gambling website :!:

sadly not a lot you can do with crap like this,,
even if your super selective where you put your email address there are nerdy hackers out there that devise programes to send mails to addresss in hope it belongs to some one. it will try all combinations..

if your ISP offers next to no spam filters like a lot just get micrsoft outlook
the standard filter is good on there plus you can tweak it to suite if needed...

Timbo wrote:Chuxsta, trouble with using outlook is not all web based email services offer POP/SMTP or MAPI access and you are stuck with using a browser to get to them.
i used to have issues with older outlook but since getting the latest one from one of my sources i have been ok with it...
all it needed was my user name password and email address and it did the rest....

other than that if people have the crappy email providers is set up another account to use with outlook or other mail retrieval software.
unlike changing your phone number its a lot easier to change your email address and let all that matter know..

another thing worth considering, and i know a lot already do this but some green to the world of TINTERNET is to set up more than one email account..
1 for say banking, 1 for registering on sites such as forums and other non sensitive material 1 for shopping etc etc..

Here's another, i got 3 of these today, all the same, as well as 27 others (Richard patches, casinos, ladys waiting for me etc),and i dont even bank with them

How easy it is for these people to get yer money :?: ,i imagine if i clicked on the link there would be a bit to type in your account details or something :?:

With me not banking with them, i knew straight away, but imagine maybe some elderly person that does bank with them, they could be at risk :!:

My problem is i use the same addy, which cant help, but it does seem like a bit of hassle informing everyone, ie the 3 banks we use, BT ,Lottery , Shopping Amazon, Ebay ,etc ,amongs others, and things are running smoothly, sometimes changing things can cause problems :!:
