Suspension settings from Roger @ Revolution

Post by firestorm996 »

"Dear Neil,
As you know there is no cure until you change or modify certain parts..Altering the std settings is like chasing a pea round the plate with a one pronged forked. Remember that you cannot polish a turd!! Here is the best I can offer.

If the rider weighs 13st or less set the rear shock pre-load at its lowest level (level 1) If he is heavier than this (up to 16st) set it at the next level. Set the Rebound at the fastestest possible return but under control.

Set fork pre-load almost all the way in - to 1 ring showing. Same for all weight of riders. Set the Rebound to the same criteria as the shock - fastest possible - - -etc ( this will be between 1/2 &3/4 turns OUT from fully IN"

Note, when Roger says 'fastest possible return' what he means is, the damping should control the return/rebound (ie it shouldn't bounce past where it settles before settling again)

As always suspension is a compromise, so fiddle at your own risk. My advice is to get the forks reworked, don't go the DIY route unless you're prepared to revalve it since the valving is the majority of the problem. Also bear in mind that if you drop the forks through the yokes, you're effectively softening the spring rate which can make the suspension problems worse, even though you may prefer the steering that way.

So that'll be good food, good wine, great roads and great women. What did Texas give us - George W Bush. Don't know about figuring out the metric system, I reckon Dubya has trouble figuring out how to tie his shoelaces.

Michael Moore for President!

Expensive food, small portions. Dirt roads with rocks. Hairy
women with B.O.

Been there, done that..

When you're ready for some _good_ food, and sexy women come
on by. I'll put you up for a week so you can see what you're missing.
:D

It's amazing how much your media controls your public opinion.. It's
clear you know very little about the man. He was 2 term governer
here in Texas, and was one of the best executives we've ever had
here. (and I know, because I live here..)

You can bend over and take it up the poop shoot from terrorists if
ya want to. Me? I pefer to defend myself from the unwashed hordes
of islamo-facists.

What did Texas give us? How about little things like:
1) The TRANSISTOR (that drives the computer you're using.)
2) Air conditioning
3) The first open heart surgery

want more?
Michael Moore for President!
Well, atleast we know where you stand.. Personaly, I myself, do not
want to live in a socialist world. Obviously, with your support of
Moore, you do.

Thank God your govt. doesn't feel like you do, or a friendship between
two nations that has held for more than a century would be in
serious jeopardy...

I guess it wouldn't matter to you that Texas lost about 15,000 people
defending your ancestors in the European theater in WWII, does
it? (and quite a few in WWI as well..)

Did I miss something or is this supposed to be a bike related site?
Just for the record the US media doesn`t exactly appear to be free as my brother found out when he lived there for 3 years. And as for terrorists.... do you really think that we don`t know about it having endured years of it from a small minded Irish minority (supported from across the pond!)
And we all lost people during WW2 and other conflicts.
SO can we just get back to bikes :D
.... no more bike, divorce sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, he started talking about food and women -- in my opinion,
those go hand-in-hand with great motorcycles
