1st aid course

Some of you were talking about doing a 1st aid course, did it happen, if so any comments

If you mean the FBOS course, then yes, RedStormV (+ Mrs RedStorm V!) and I went a few Sundays back.

I personally thought it was OK. Probably more beneficial on the whole if you have very little 1st aid experience. Most of the course was based around basic accident management (RTA's etc), CPR, log role techniques, movement of unconscious casualty and safe helmet removal.

Some of the stuff I had already covered on other 1st aid courses but I found the helmet removal and log role techniques quite beneficial.

I wouldn't have a problem doing something similar again in a few years to refresh. Just hope nothing so serious happens that the stuff taught should need to be used :(
