Any locals able to offer an opinion on this place? (it's in the right county):

http://www.vicbikerspub.co.uk/

Seems they do stopovers inside the function room for clubs at £10/night including bacon butty and tea breakfast.

Personally, happy to rock up any campsite and stick a tent up, fully kitted for that, but I know some people (and maybe their other halves) would prefer an indoors venue with proper toilets!

Agree about new thread, maybe if we do a bit of research into the options first on this one we could put a new one up with a vote on the most likely sites/venues?
And we'd need a good idea of numbers to book anywhere in any case.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

+1 Tony

I think FSM made a good point ages ago-many people who stick down there names for these type of things bail nearer the time.

It'd be good to get a definitive list and venue options

Me, I'm a bit like you on the "accommodation front"...

Suppose a campsite with adjoining B&B (or vice versa) would be a good shout

Something like the VIC, with the £10 stopover sounds bloody good to me, or camping? Count me in whatever.

I'm sure I've seen the Vic on TV before... on some ITV programme-looked a laugh.

It says they'll let people sleep inside too providing its pre arranged and you bring a sleeping bag  So for those who'd rather kip inside it could be a shout.

I looked earlier for some alternatives but they all looked a bit "posh"...don't think they'd appreciate tons of bikes rolling up

We need someone who knows the area better

+1 on pick a venue and just do it.

More than happy to camp, I doubt my mrs would want to come even if it was B&B [no offence to you lot, she aint that big into bikes].

I am happy to come if it is Liesctershire, or if we decided to go further afield, also happy. [who said Scotland? :biggrin ]

As you said, need some one who knows some good roads round there to give us something to do when not drinking

I've e-mailed the Vic, let's see what they come back with.

My sister rides up that way (Warwick) on her SV, with her other half on his 955, so they should be able to highlight a few local roads for me.

Looks like sometime in July or August is order of the day.

I have put a poll up for everyone to see what dates we get the most people interested.

I sent them:
Hi!
Arranging a meetup/camping weekend on the w/e of the 24th July this year for the Firestorm Owners Forum members- http://www.vtr1000.org .

Looking at the middle of the country-ish as we have members form SW to Scotland, and most points in between.

Your pub looks very welcoming, and the overnight stop in your function room looks to be a hit with most people, but we have one or two who prefer to camp in their tents.

So do you have room for any tents?
They'll all be small ones, probably, if they arrive on bikes.

We're expecting between ten and twenty, you know how these things go, everyone says yes, then a few drop out after their wife or girlfriend decides otherwise!
But we can keep you updated with numbers.

Likelihood is we'll all turn up on bikes, I assume there's somewhere off-road we can lock them up.
All Storms, SP1's and SP2's.

So firstly, is this date available?
Secondly I assume you'll want an advance payment, please let me know what amount.

Thirdly, tents ok?

Cheers,
Tony

Here's what the Vic pub said:
hey tony

thanks for getting in touch with us at the vic bikers pub and yes we'd love to have you vistit
the 24th july is no problem at all ( on the 23rd we have guns 2 roses playing for all that want to come a day early )
camping is not a problem either we have enough room for around 40 tents
both our carparks are very safe all cctv and in the 15yrs we've been on the bike scene we've never had one bit of trouble with damaged or stolen bikes

weab

Sounds alright, but I'll go with the flow :D

I think that a pre-meet meet of the Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex divisions of vtr1000.org is a fantastic idea, group up on the friday and gently saunter up norf!
What do you think?

Bloody good idea, had a look at the route planner to the Vic pub, I think that the Norfolk crowd will have to make a decision if they want to meet up with us on the way through, cause Tony will be coming from Kent. We could meet up near Cambridge then travel through from there....
