The wife is getting piffed oss with me spending all my time in the garage and all my money, too. As she says, that bike has cost us four or five good holidays abroad over the years.
So she has suggested that I get a fairly standard bike that's nice and reliable and just ride it rather than permanently messing with it. Sounds tempting...
What she's agreed to is an SP2, but the deal is that in order to raise most of the money I have to sell my Storm and all of the spares.

Mine's had a lot done to it but will probably fetch more broken for parts.

I always said the yellow one was a keeper, but lately it's taken most of my life just getting and keeping it running.....and that's getting a little tedious.

For now I have a spare set of crankcases so I'll rebuild the engine- mostly because I still on't know how much if any difference the oversize valves make, and would like to know.
If the yellow one dynos at around the same power as an SP2, then there won't be much of a gain in swapping one for t'other.
And at least I'll never park it next to another one in the same spec

I'll have to have a little think.
I can understand where your coming from tony, but an sp1 or 2 will be putting out approx. 130bhp. that's roughly a stage 1 mori engine. but it's a lighter more focused bike, small with less space to move around on, and certainly more uncomfortable, after all it's essentially a track bike built by hrc.
as for prices, in the last 24mths sp's are going up in value, they'll hold there money if not go up in value more than an aprillia.
and sadly your right about your bike being worth more in parts...... :(
you need to ask yourself if you changed bike, would you still end up tinkering with the new bike?
I personally think that it's more likely for someone to lose interest in a storm if they've been chasing extra bhp, it seems a very difficult thing to do on a storm, often at the expense of reliability.
good luck with whatever you choose mate.....

Don't ask for an explanation, I don't have one that makes sense, but this is the only swap (and I'd have to pay money towards it as well)

No ifs. No Buts. No Doubts.

Had the opportunity to ride a '56 DBD GS a number of years back (500cc) and I can't begin to explain the many reasons for wanting one before I die. The forum doesn't have enough space! I'd need my storm sold, then another £8,500 added to the pot for a half decent one. But, a boy can dream can't he? As per my other British stuff I've had, they were all ridden and not hidden, and the Gold Star would be no different. They were meant to be used, not trailered to shows. Imagine thrashing round the back roads on this! I've done it on one, and MY GAWD.....(*gibbers and drools slowly into a pink cloud of reminiscence)

The photos are of the 350 version.

IIRC R version had gear-driven cams whereas the F had chain-driven unit. I recall the R being criticised for being so damn heavy when it came out
