Funny you should say that AMcQ. Lloyd said the same thing at one point. It's my second visit in a week or so
Might be a mechanic but it's great to be around someone who knows the bikes more than I do.

I started with dremeling a little of the casing around the outside of the studs. Slotted them, applied some heat with some Butane and used an impact driver to see if that would budge them. And it did not budge anywhere. It just mullered the stud head more. I then smoothed the stud heads off and used a cone shaped centre punch style drill to get started, then used a 3mm Cobolt drill bit and then moved onto the 6mm bit. It was just hard work and getting nowhere fast. I bought brand new drill bits as well.

I'm going to take the head down to an engine engineering firm tomorrow and get them to drill and tap them for me. http://naismithengineering.co.uk/

This evening I started on my chain & sprockets, I'm now in a huff as I can't find my chain riveting and removal tools. Grrr!

I guess I could get the chain riveted at a bike shop on Saturday then put it on complete.

But I'm still in a huff! Hate losing good tools.

Jamie, i've got a chain tool you can borrow if you want. I work in Harlow so if it suits you could pick it up from there.

Take the front footpeg hanger off and remove the old chain - to rivet the chain into an endless chain you only need a pin hammer and vice (to act as anvil) - slip it back on.

What gasket have you broken?

I'm guessing he's taken the slave cylinder off. If you have Jamie, be prepared for lots of bleeding. And yes Ball pin hammer is all that is needed.

Hi KevL, thankyou for your very kind offer, although Harlow isn't that far, it's just far enough to make me try Wicky & Carl's suggestions.

Thanks for the input guys, yes I got curious and decided to look inside the slave cylinder! Could I have done it just by removing the whole clutch cover as one piece? I've ordered another gasket from DSS only £3.

I've got a vice & ball hammer, so I should be ok just to rest the pin in the link on the vice top then hit the pin with the round end of hammer? Or could I clamp the pin in the vice until it burr's over?
