It was the r/r again it was charging good with the lights off 14.4v but only giving out 12.2v with them on .
So I remove the r1 reg and fitted a later finned one now I'm getting a good 14.5v with the lights on or off .
That was my 3rd r/r in two years .
Two of them were from a r1 and the other was the sh1t standard one .
So going by that the r1 regs are just as bad as the standard un-finned crap .
I'm going to be on the look out for a MOSFET now just in case this one packs up !
I remember the chat about the MOSFET RR's which models are they can you link me to one please mate, after a new battery soon and would like to put another RR on at the same time too.

good work there Lloydie......that a lot of Regulators to kill, makes you wonder if there is some other problem with the generator?
Same here I thought that. I have and R1 R/R on mine and had no problems. They are supposed to very reliable but as we all no any R/R can fail but the MOSFIT are a vast improvement.

Here you go Seb

I did say a while ago that the yam regs are just as bad.
I think everyone just assumed they were the best cos somone posted an article saying hed fitted one and it worked!

My mate boiled his virago battery dry cos his rr was putting out 29v :o
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

I've had my '07 R1 mosfet R/R Fitted for a month now and all good. The main difference I can feel is it doesn't get noticeably hot, whereas my old un finned and later finned ones got chuffing hot!!

Voltages are healthy so so far so good. Paid £60 delivered.

....oh and another thing!!! Think I've cured a weep of oil that I had, after fitting my +4 advancer. Mustn't of tightened clutch casing up enough after refitting with new gasket- no more drips (fingers crossed). I was getting the drips with bike on paddock stand so oil would have been in contact with casing side (RHS).

That's exactly like I want my wheel. Spot on jazz.

Just got back in from the suburbs. It's getting pretty cold out there now with a bit of fog once out of London. I don't think my fuel economy will be much good on this tankful  I just love those high revs with the exhaust shouting, on and off the throttle with instant pull.

Super duper. :biggrin :biggrin
