Where watching Eric.

The underslung caliper is the piece due resistance as far as I'm concerned.

Can't wait to see it finished, and get your thoughts on what difference it makes.

My experience is positive in regards to handling

Got done with class yesterday and picked up my freshly powder coated parts.

Just had to get started on installing them..

First up was cleaning the stray blast media out of the swing arm...

Image

Had two or three piles about that big... Id have preferred the coater do that before spraying.. but as all the bolt holes and such are plugged with silicone plugs or taped over... the media INSIDE the part does not really effect a clean job on coating.

Then initial fitment check

And one last one at the stopping point for the night

Made a bone head move,, and forgot to order a new rivet style chain master link,,, and fitting a endless chain in and through a swing arm with a brace is a bit tough

But I'll get things buttoned up today and have the wife bring one home from work on Tuesday.

That looks great dude

I like how the wavy disc is visible all the way round the top. Will you be powdercoating the frame etc to match?

I had real trouble finding a master link for my nearly new chain, so ended buying a different chain with a couple of spare links.

Been puzzling over brake line routing and attachment points.
Image

Did not like the white plastic clamps, and needed a second point more rearward than the factory location.

Decided on routing the line along the OEM route.. top of the swing arm, using the original forward swing arm point with a different clamp.
Image

And then using the hollow center of the axle for a second attachment point.

Machined a bushing from 6061, threaded it and installed a Stainless steel thread insert for M6x1.0
Pressed into place and used some loctite retainer compound to help keep it there.

Button head socket screw in m6 x1.0 plus a back clamp finished it off

Not completely happy with it, but it'll do for now.

Removed the caliper, got the bleeder positioned at the top, and bleed the MC, banjo bolts, and then the caliper..... aided by the old rear disk stuffed in the pads to maintain brake pad position.. it was a quick work.

Looking at the brake line in one of those pics above..... Im considering making a new clamp for the rear position. Still using the axle mount point.. but extending the clamp so the line has a better....errrr... Line :D

Something like this perhaps

can you go inboard of the upper brace? between the disk and the brace following the line of the swing arm like your red dotted line, but behind not infront of the brace?

Possible.. but to do so, would require a sturdy fixed mount .. as there is very little extra room .. Fixed mount during the build phase is easy... weld on a new tab, drill, thread, DONE..

Now, after powder coating and the idea fairy having landed on my shoulder...the only option I see to make that work is drill a hole in the brace or swing arm, thread it, and affix the mount to that.
I just spent time and money to build a stiffer swing arm...last think I want to do is reduce the structural integrity by drilling holes in the darn thing :eek2

But I'll go have a look and see what I can figure out.

its a bit out there and it's not so obvious I would go for a black line.

also without looking at mine as I am at work, could you point the caliper banjo 180° to where it is now and run the line under the swing arm along your caliper brace, you will need a shorter line.
