That's awful. All those poor people flooded. You didn't have to go that far afield to see that sort of devastation, you could have just as easily popped down to Somerset last summer

They seem very happy to have all the roads flooded over here and cope very well, however the bars and restaurants seem to be collecting for the reconstruction of them, at least that would explain the prices!
Very nice though.

The Italians also seem to have more than their fare share of pissed towers. Every one of them looks like it may drop at any moment.

To be honest the cost are exaggerated, if you are sensible it's not that expensive. Two courses with bottle of wine and water is about €70-100, ice creams are €3-5, coffee & cake €12 for two of us.
Go to Harry's bar and the prices are dramatically more expensive. There are a number of other trendy places where the prices are high, but being older than an old thing trendy ain't important.

Love Venice. Last time I was there stayed in someone's holiday apartment on Guidecca and went to the Cipriani a couple of times. Sod the expense, well worth it.
