Bennetts Insurance con if you sell a bike and inform them

Post by Seven Of Nine Firestorm »

Heard that alot of people have recommended Bennetts insurance, but be warned as a brokers if you sell your bike before end of the policy you will incure charges and have to pay extra just to cancil as I found out. Which doesn't inspire. Also suggest to everyone if you sell a bike don't tell them its sold just phone them up and stop the auto renewal so you don't have to incure penalties fecking sucks. Wish my other bike wasn't insured with them also. Was especting some money back had a shock when they said I had to pay to cancel and that they forced the law that two insurances i.e. new keepers and my policy can't be running at the same time. So word of warning about this to Bennetts customers dont' tell them your bike has been sold else you will have to pay extra. They won't be getting my custom in future. Wonder how other peeps have been screwed like I have..... NOT a happy bunny.

insured my storm with em last september (1st bike for over 25 years) and they quoted me £90 fully comp which was the cheapest quote. took that and when I added my SP1 this february I automatically assumed they'd be cheapest, so paid up another £440 to em for that without checking elsewhere.
earlier this month the storm renewal quote arrived - a 76% increase with no claims or convictions! I dumped Bennetts & went thru Tesco's for the storm & whilst I was there got a quote for the SP - £170 fully comp ffs
so Bennetts have lost my business . . . . permanently

Renewal time recently and bennetts had increased my costs by£100 squid for no reason at all. Searched and found one cheaper than last years with bennets so called and told them I wasnt renewing as they increased the cost for no reason ..
About a week later they sent me a letter telling me my insurance was due for renewal and it had now increased by £200 pounds this time to over £300.

Yeah, they lost my business as well .

And who said being a LOYAL CUSTOMER pays . Yeah right :x :x

I am with Bennetts for the Royal Enfield but they were the best cost wise, but they were putting up the cost this year. I haggled and got it reduced so you gotta have a go. Helps if you give them (any of the other insurance companies) a comparative cheaper quote.
I got my Kawasaki KR1 added to the VTR insurance fully comp for................................. 15 quid which I thought was good!!!

I rent these days (ex bitch got MY house etc grrrrrrrrr).................. anyway, I have to use a electric prepayment key so not only do they (Brit Gas) get my money in advance of use but I pay more for it. Bl%dy great!!!

BG might. Landlady might not!!!!!
It was installed as she got caught by some previous tennents so now it is a no change area.
I could save a bl%dy fortune is water bills if a meter were installed being a solo bloke etc (bath once a week if I feel lucky) but not allowed to alter that either.

Alright chaps,
Sorry I've been absent, wedding prep is taking ALL my time at the moment. The storm is still in the garage, hasn't turned a wheel since the meetup!

Anyway.... just had my renewal letter through from Swinton Bikes - £250 tpft, £20 more than last year! I ALWAYS use these figures as a starting point, and with the 'here we go again' attitude, hit the search sites.

Comparethemarket.co.uk - £130 -from Bennetts!. I'll need to ring them up to confirm everything (pillions, commuting, riding other bikes etc) but it's not looking bad. I rang Swinton, to be told 'that seems a very low quote for that Motorcycle sir'. after a bit of wrangling she got it down to a 'very competetive' £195. WTF? It's a ten year old albeit sports tourer, i'm virtually married and have 5 years NCB. I was expecting it to be sub £100! Where the hell do these people get their quotes from? My car insurance is due in a week, but i've completely given up on that one. I can't get it below the renewal quote i've got (£500) on a '99 Diesel Escort. It's like another years NCB doesn't count for sh1t.

Rant over.
Perseverance takes too long....

the cost of insurance also depends on your post code,i did a quote for my mothers car,she lives near neath and drives a renault scenic diesel,i also tried the same but with my details/postcode,the result was it was cheaper for me to insure her car here in swindon than it was for her to insure her car in the village she lives in.
