Reminder: Top Speed day at Elvington this sunday

Post by firestorm996 »

Providing the weather has sorted itself out by then (how shite has this summer been so far?!!?) Fluffoi, my brother and myself shall be venturing up to Elvington for the top whack day.

I've rattled on about it before cos it's a good day, nowt serious like a trackday can be, just good old 'theres a runway sonny, feel free to give it the full berries' type fun. £50 for the day, you can turn up and spectate and see if you fancy it or whatever. You get a timing-lights official time card to show your top whack and bragging rights down the pub and you get the high speed stuff out of your system for a while at least. Last year I did over 10 runs but could have done many more no probs.

If anyone wants more info just ask.

Nah TOTB is late July I think?

There were a few cars there last year, mainly scoobs and supra's posting some impressive top whacks.

If it weren't 270 miles away I'd be there like a shot. Looks like you're going to have the weather though. Enjoy!

Well what a washout that was!!! :sad2 :sad2 :sad2 :sad2

Managed three runs before the heavens opened up, it cleared for a while and just as it was drying up enough to do some more runs a thunderstorm came in and that was that. :sad2 :sad2

Still, I really wanted to crack the 150 barrier on my zed and I managed it! First run (148.2) was done with quite a wobble over the line. The second run involved a severe headshake which got progressivly worse to the point that I had to shut off about 1/4 mile before the line, let it settle and get my weight over the front before whacking the throttle open maybe 100mtrs before the timing gates, managing 145.5mph. On me third run I gripped the tank with my knees, tucked my boots in as close as I could get them and got my arms lined up behind the bars. Went through the gate at 151.5mph
:biggrin :biggrin :biggrin

Lookin at the times that some of the others were getting I'm pretty chuffed. Chris on his 916 got a best run of 154.7, Tony on his R1 got 151.7 and he's proper scrawny. My brother got 157 on his GSXR750 which puts out 125rwhp but I think with different gearing he could improve that. All in all a bit of a letdown as I felt I could have improved slightly on my third run but I did what I went there to do. 151 from a naked 750, needless to say it was pretty breezy and all I could do to hang on the f*&ker!!
