WHITE FACED SPEEDO

Post by castrolstorm »

HI EGG
YOU TAKE THE CLOX OFF ,TAKE THE FRONT OFF(screws behind)take the clock off the cluster,by undoing the screws holding wires on.
To correct clock if necessary(different sprockets),kph-mph if left-hand drive speedo ,do any maths that are needed, then drill tiny holes(1mm) where the new 10 mph increments come.(ie 90 may become82).
Remove the 2 tiny screws that hold the face on,then scrape off the black face,& numbers, then rub down with fine wet&dry.
Go to your local model aircraft shop, and buy a roll of white "SOLARTRIM", (if you use any other source of white vinyl, you
are on your own regarding translucence for the back lighting).
Cut out a circle oversize, roughly cut out the hole for milometer, make a cut from this opening, to a small hole in the middle, for the needle shaft, now remove the backing, and CAREFULLY,position, and stick it down, smoothing out bubbles(pricking with a needle if needed_.
Trim neatly,then use 6mm LETRASET,using the I,or 1,for the lines,then reassemble,fit a higher wattage bulb, and off you go.
PHEW :? (i did mine cos I had a kph clock, too tight to buy an mph one
Hope this helps RICK :D

hi rich
It is quite easy, but the sticky on bit needs care,
I see you are from sidcup, AVICRAFT model shop in CHATTERTON ROAD
BROMLEY is probably your nearest shop, unless BEXLEY MODELS keeps it.
Hope this helps RICK :D

dunno if it would work, but you can get special backlit film for inkjet printers, so in theory, you could use a computer to design and print the artwork onto the film. The film is white and semi transparent.

Might give it a go!

Is it just me who thinks they look nasty? If you cant see your speedo at night i suggest you get your eyes tested :-P

Look at the 5 and 6, looks like theyve been drawn on by a 6 year old with crayons. Original clocks look a lot better IMO... sorry. :D :P

1) if i had done the same, i should have add a photo in the middle (a girl for exemple...). But the best you can do is to add commentary in some of the speeds...
ex/
<60 mph : motor off? <100 mph :normal >130 mph : bye bye the cops... >.. mph : welcome to VTair line!

2) i don't look at my speedo, cause i cut the speedo wire...
3) i don't look at my speedo (sigma sport) during the night cause it's in the dark. it's just to know the km done for the fuel
4) agree for the 5 and 6, which look strange.
5) agree that the stock speedo are easy to see during the night...
6) for the time being, i don't look anything since i binned my bike...
