Top speed day at Elvington Runway...

Post by firestorm996 »

Hi all

Did the top speed day at Elvington runway on my Z750 last weekend as a nice way to round off the year. £50 gets you as many runs down the 2 mile strip as you like. :D ;D :D

First run was a sighting run, managed 138.8 through the timing lights after 1.5miles which was cool as most magazines have tested the 750 at 138 max. Then crept into the 140's, then managed a 145 and eventually two runs at 147.4mph. It was indicating 165mph through the timing lights on that run, just 4mph shy of the rev limiter. My brother on his bandit 12 managed 143, another guy got 145 on his naked GSXR750 and there was a large chap on a busa that could only manage 143 so I was well chuffed to be knockin on the door of 150mph on a nekkid bike :D

There was also a certain Jack Frost there riding PB's Project 250, a turbo'd busa with 750bhp on tap, I was at the line when he launched on his way to a 247mph run

Now I like that explanation best.

Yep it was on different runs, did 9 in all. I think the photos were taken partway down the runway, as you'd have no chance snapping people near the timing gate...
