The yellow storm, back from the dead

Post by Sweyn »

To put a long story short, I laid my Firestorm down, and even though I was getting the usual "Get rid of that bloody thing" from the family, I was determined to get it back on the road even though I broke my clavicle in the accident

The damage to the bike wasn't all that bad, and this is where being a mechanic came in handy! Many late nights after work, and weekends were poured into this project, but I think it was all worth it.

Since I was at it I installed a set of MCCT's, and got the whole bike resprayed (I was going to spray can the bad spots, but my colleague who is a painter talked me out of it)

I used Advanced Paints Y163P base and pearl, and I would say the results were very good! Not as much shine as I had hoped, but that may be due to application, so I'm not going to point fingers.

And whilst I was at it, I decided to get an OEM style set of decals from Ralf Haas in Germany. I can not recommend him enough, and I actually learned of him via this very forum! A very nice gentleman who went above and beyond to meet my needs and got them shipped to my door within a week or 2 of placing the order! (It was a while ago, so I'm not 100%, but it was quick anyway!) It was also very affordable compared to other sets I saw online.

Apologies for the essay, but I've wanted to make this post for a while, and I kept putting it off. Anyway, I'm rambling now. Enjoy your day/night, folks! And I hope these photos do the paint and decals justice!

Looks good, just the clutch cover and can to go.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Aye, only got it fixed last month and didn't want to go too far until I had put some miles on it!

Just need to give the casing a wee go with a carbide burr and I've been on the lookout for a set of cans for a wee blink now. I suppose I'll have to keep my eyes peeled!

I'm not really a fan of them personally. If I see a set going cheap, then I may go for it, but I prefer the alloy look.

I'm hoping it'll tidy up okay and that a lick of paint will do the trick!

Cheers folks, really glad it's back on the go again. I do have a few wee nit picks with it but that'll all get ironed out with time I hope
