Exhaust section fell off today! Exhaust Manifold Replacement

Post by Francom82 »

Hi all

Out for a ride today, and mid way through, exhaust note changed drastically, much louder, different note etc.

Went straight home and discovered a section totally missing, it's broken and come away.

Has this happened to anyone else here before?

Best ideas for a fix, found replacement exhaust manifolds on ebay that I can get, then replace pipe section and connect to Micron back section again.

Ebay example - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265138171407 ... VwQAvD_BwE

These are new fabrications but a lot more money -

Do I need to avoid any poor copies? Do Honda sell the part new anymore? Do I need any specific gaskets etc..

Does sound good for what its worth with essentially straight through, but its got to be fixed.

8O I bet it is LOUD now

You are right in thinking the exhaust headers (as you say manifold) is the part that needs replacing.

The new part would be better in the sense it would last longer most likely.

IIRC MacV2 may have had some experience with the Black Widow Header's :?:
although not 100% sure on that.

You will need a new exhaust gasket (a round seal) if it's not in the end of the hanging can (silencer),

No re black widow. I have heard they can be a bit hit and miss on fitting correctly. I do have a couple of standard full headers tho if you need one.

Hi Mac

Thanks for that, what sort of condition are the headers you have currently mate?

Have ordered a second hand one online, but no idea what type of condition it will be in when it arrives, so may need to come to you if it's not suitable.

Thanks

Fairly good, both have useable flanges if a little crusty but then I do have some nice SS split flanges available.
