I have a key for ignition barrel. Doesn’t plunge all the way into the filler keyhole. Would it have been a different key? Maybe shorter (remember I’ve never owned or ridden a storm before)
I’m wanting to drain and clean the tank. Without a key, any ideas how I can remove the filler ‘bit’ from here - please see pic.
Thanks.

Re: Simple Sunday one!!
As std it's one key fits all. Ignition, fule cap & seat latch.
If at some stage the fule cap has been changed then the ingnition key won't fit...
To remove the fule cap it has to be oppend.
Do not try & lever it out it will come out but it will damage the tank...
My advice bolt it back in place, then use a flat blade screw driver, force it down into the lock, hammer it in to brake the lock. You should then be able to turn it to open the cap. Some will say drill it but that have bits of metal in the tank...
It will of course knacker the cap... Either get hold of a replacement cap... Which means you'll have to have two different keys... Or replace the hole lock set.
I've seen cheap 'new' ones on ebay obviously not genuine OME, or find someone who has either a tank cap & key or a compleat lockset for sale...

Re: Simple Sunday one!!
Try the key in the rear seat lock first, if it fits that at least you know how far the key should go in .
You can drill the lock without swarf going into the tank, as the lock is separated from the underside of the cap casting, otherwise petrol fumes would come out of the keyhole.
Just don't go all the way through.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Simple Sunday one!!
The guy I got it off gave me two matching keys. No mention of any others. My guess, having read what you’ve replied, is that it IS the correct key and there is something stuck in the bottom 1/2” of the barrel. The key goes in, just not deep enough to do anything.
Now I know that I can’t remove whilst locked and there probably isn’t a different key, I think I will first try and see if it’s blocked.
Thanks for the link Mac. I may need it..

Ended up drilling it. Now looking for new petrol cap.
I’m now at least able to see the rusty crap that I need to remove.
