wheelies and wingmirrors...

Post by Squiffythewombat »

Hi Guys,

Have had the storm back on the road for a couple of weeks now and it feels great however i have a new niggle:

every time i land from a 12oclock wheelie or stand up my mirrors just readjust themselves, its very annoying spending the next minute or so re-adjusting them!

Ive tighten up the bolt under the rudder thing as much as i can but they seem to be moving around the ball and socket joint, is there any way to make this nice and stiff?

And to be fair, yes all i see is my elbows anyway but thats not the point!

have you tried resting your palm on the stem, clasping it lightly and gentally raising your hand up and down?

Too Right!

Just don't tell the wife

On a more serious note thoug you could try ruffing up the ball joint with some light sand paper. They are more than likley too new and shiney and that would be quicker than waiting for a couple or years of road grime to ingress and stiffen them up

ya beat me to it there

try loosening the joint and putting some thread lock on the ball joint and then tighten it back up, leave it over night though. Try Loctite 243 first then try the green stud lock (cant remember the number off hand).

Make sure you leave it over night to set though.

Pete theyre not new and shiny but old and dusty lol! The stork is as tight as its going to get but the ball joint just doesnt seem to tighten up and i cant, for the life of me work out how to remove it? Do you have to take the mirror out first?

Cuppa, does that mean your going to give me some 100mph tips? :P

Yep! in that case it's a mirror out job (I don't fancy that job, rather you than me  ). Running some thread lock into the back of the ball joint is sounding a much easier option if you ask me
Good Luck
