Er just fit a Blackbird stand instant uprightness... OK you might have to adapte the prong as its really short but looks better than a club foot...
I know that is a common mod for us Firestorm/Superhawk owners.
However, I think it could have been you Mac who posted up some dimensions a while back for a blackbird stand. Whoever it was I used those dimensions, but it meant for how I have my bike set-up the Blackbird stand would be too long.
While you're here Mac, was it you who welded a better prong to a blackbird stand

that doesn't matter, all I wanted to know was did mild steel Arc Welding rods work

Chris,do you use the stand to spin your bike round on the spot?.
I've been doing this recently and wonder if a welded plate would be up to the job!.
No I don't use the stand for spinning the bike around on the spot. That must take a bit of skill
A good point though about whether or not mild steel will wear away quicker than the side stand material, I think it might.
May be something like carbon steel would be a better choice for you with it being harder
Iirc old car leaf springs were made from carbon steel.
This afternoon I welded the 6mm plate to the bottom of the Storm's side stand. I need not have worried as the stand material seem to work well with the mild steel rods for my Arc welder
I will be painting the stand soon, this is where I'm at now:-
Well done Chris, like I always say, if it looks like it belongs there, then it's right
I did the same when I retro fitted a storm side stand to my BMW Cafe racer
Like what you do
Do what you like He who wonders isn't always lost
