My ride yesterday
My ride yesterday
Last April I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and had a series of stays in hospital for chemotherapy. Although I was in remission after the first month, I had a stem cell transplant in August to hopefully stop the return of the disease. The NHS was absolutely marvellous. In July I was quite fit and able to take the VTR for its MOT, but after the stem cell transplant I was quite weak and then the weather did what it does. So, yesterday I felt good and it was dry and sunny so for the first time in 7 months I had a ride. I'd started the bikes up every month or so to keep the float bowls wet etc.
How life affirming that ride was. The grunt, the soundtrack, the sheer pleasure that comes with riding one of these.

Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

I had to miss 2011 so congrats on getting back on two wheels and good luck with the recovery... Sounds like you've got it licked.
Re: My ride yesterday
Hi Paul, I'm really happy to hear the outcome, long may your health continue in that direction.
I bet the ride on the bike must have given you a boost after all that time
Chris.

Nice one fella. The only thing to do with a shitty stick is grab it firmly with both hands hand never let go.

Well Done Stratman.
Stamina is a bitch to get back after going through something like that. Keep looking forward. The weather is on the change and there's a new summer on the horizon.
Here's to a better one
