Trouble bleeding clutch
Trouble bleeding clutch
Hi...recently fitted new braided hoses and I can't seem to get clutch bled. I initially primed the system backwards using a syringe and forced the fluid up to the reservoir but there is no resistance at all in the clutch lever so I presume air is trapped somewhere....looking for advice on getting this sorted...cheers

Re: Trouble bleeding clutch
I've had this where the air sits right in the master cylinder piston. You could try just wiggling the lever in and out as this sometimes allows the air bubbles to escape through the bleed port in the master.

Re: Trouble bleeding clutch
I found that if you first revirse bleed and crack the banjo bolt at the top to get rid of the air, then go back to bleeding the normal way but open the bleed valve quite wide open so it passes lots of fluid through worked, just make sure you keep the resivour topped up, and keep pumping and pumping, you might feel like you're getting nowhere, but just stick at it, it will happen eventually.

Re: Trouble bleeding clutch
Yep, just keep bleeding and eventually it comes in.
About 20 minutes is usually enough.

Re: Trouble bleeding clutch
Make sure you open the bleed valve enough so you shift lots of fluid through, if you don't you'll just end up moving the air down and back up again, once again keep an eye on the fluid level.
Yes you will use a lot of fluid, but it's not expensive and will save you a lot of time in the end.

Good, you have no excuse not to drop by Mac's workshop day in Grain, then.

Re: Trouble bleeding clutch
I clamped the slave cylinder then bled as normal. Worked a treat.
