Re: wtf xmas
just read this macdee - hope it all goes well surgery wise. My mother in law had it, it got beat finally about 10 years ago, even after getting into her lymph system, so it can be done and medical knowledge has moved on massively. One thing she did do was totally change her diet and life etc - there is a cancer team in Bristol that specialise in this - lots of shitake mushrooms, broccoli and garlic (?) is all I remember, and whilst it's not a cure etc, it was one of the things along the lines of every little helps, the mother-in-law swore by it.
Appreciate all cases are unique, so here's hoping and best wishes to all involved
couple of links, might help

Re: wtf xmas
12 years ago my wife had a lump removed, 6 weeks of radiotherapy followed by 5 years of medication. She could deal with physical pain but the mental stress of having the big 'C' was much more difficult. So here's wishing them both a speedy and lasting recovery.
Re: wtf xmas
good news so far...best wishes to both of them mate.
Moocher, my wife still gets scared by the fear of it coming back after 11 yrs, maybe only once a year, but i guess that is to be expected after such a big fright. in general she doesn't think about it and all through the treatment we made a point of ignoring any of the "why me?" type of thoughts, as they dont get you anywhere good. you just believe in your consultant and get on with the treatment and try and keep everything else as normal as you can............worked for us anyway

Hi Men
I should have updated this a while back but didn't want to tempt fate
My mother and sister have done great after their treatment and time since then
They had the usual problems that everyone goes through but came through that ,mum has the all clear but my sister although doing great has been told it could come back
She is strong and will do everything it takes to make sure it doesn't so here's hoping
I will see her in May as she is coming home from New Zealand for a month
I showed this thread to them at the time and it was well received and appreciated so i would just like to once again thank you VTR lot for your time and help
good luck Men

I must have missed this for some reason when first posted in 2013.
Glad to hear a very positive outcome for both, I wish your Mum and your Sister all the very best,
Chris.
