I used the crampbuster for a while and it does work... but as said, you need to set it in the correct angle or it will be an issue when you grab the brakes. but going to flat bars and taking off the return throttle cable is much better solution.
also avoid crashing into the back of cars, that is very uncomfortable

Re: touring mileage
That's a serious journey Marty in two days. I rode the 500 miles to Fabios in a day and it busted me. Fair play to You!
If you don't try you never know if you can do it.
Re: touring mileage
Spare pair of gloves.
Nothing worse than having to put wet gloves onto start the day.
Avoid red bull / energy drinks at every stop, or you'll get hyper.
If you must, tip one into an empty coke bottle and take a few sips every fuel stop.
Don't look at mileage except to judge when to fill up.
It's too depressing watching them click over slowly.
Instead count fuel stops, roughly on per 100 miles, so you'll need four if you start with a full tank.
Eat a proper lunch at the third one, sit down and take time eating.
Not stuffing a burger in beside the fuel pump.
Are your tyres going to last?
If not, a good break is to get a new set partway through the day, but book ahead so you don't have to wait or waste time looking for a dealer.
Put a 100 mile mix together, with your favourite songs for the last but one leg.
The last leg is ok, as you're nearly there, which raises the spirits. But it's the last but one which is hard work.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Re: touring mileage
nice one tony
tyres
chain
spockets
cush drive rubbers
are all tip top.
as for drinking, that will depend on the weather, I tend not to drink to much as that means too many pee breaks lol, but if its hot i'll drink plenty to stop dehydration.
my plan is to get a train crossing at 7.30am which should put me on the French roads at 9am. for fuel consumption i'll be trying to stick to 70ish mph.
stopping for lunch at the third fill up is about right...
then pushing on for another 300 miles after lunch will be the tough part. if I can get 600 covered on the first day. the second day will be a piece of cake going thru the pyrenee's.
I did buy one of those Bluetooth kits for my helmet but the speakers hurt my ears....
so unless I use smaller ear bud style speakers, there will be no music...

just been surfing the web, and decided i'd try a cheap set of Bluetooth headphones. the battery won't last more than 3 hrs but at least it will fit under my helmet. and it only cost £6
worth a punt at that price.
i'll probably sell the Bluetooth helmet setup. nice piece of kit, but my helmet is on the snug side and I have big ears hahahahahahaha
