Using hairspray is an old art student trick for fixing drawings esp pastels instead of more expensive specialised arty spray fixatives. Both hairspray and fixative contains gum arabic glue / binder.

from an old duffer's perspective,I would say that for the money,heated grips are a sound investment,I've had 'em on every bike I've owned in the last 5 years,can't live without 'em now,fitted a pair to the new Fire engine as a priority !
