I hate brake fluid!!!!! You have to be soooooo careful with the damned stuff.

Bled up some fresh calipers on a storm a few weeks ago, took less than 5 minutes to get a good strong lever.

Use a long clear tube into a clear bottle, hold it above the master cylinder (air rises), open the bleed nipple and pump the lever continuously (not fast, not slow), just keep pumping and top up the fluid as you go, shouldn't take long to expel the air, when you close the nipple you should get a brake after a few pumps, do the nearside caliper first.. once you have both calipers bled this way go back and finish them off with a couple of goes at your original method. when you close the nipple count slowly to three then pull the lever, it should be there right away or within 1 or 2 pumps.

Don't open the nipples too far as they may draw air in through the threads, open just enough for the fluid to flow.

I use method similar to popkat, with difference on long hose and reservoir above mc, as I dont see reason for it.

I have race setup with two separate hoses , but it should work on oem setup too.

1. Use syringe to suck all fluid on one caliper trough bleeding screw.
2. Connect clear hose to caliper bleeding screw and some bottle to catch the fluid
3. Fill new fluid from the top
4. Pump and fill the fluid until you see there is fluid without bigger bubbles coming out in attached hose. There can be small ones came from bleeding screw around thread. Dont touch bleeding screw, just pump and fill.
5. Tighten bleeding screw
6. Pump the lever until firm, hold, carefully loose bleeding screw and then tighten it (your original method). Usually I dont feel difference from step 5, but for sure ...
7. Do the same for second caliper.

15 minutes job and you dont get better result with special equipment, tested.

For what it's worth I had the same issue 2 weeks ago after a rebuild - nearly gave up.

What helped me - after fitting lines to the calipers I lifted them up and above the M/C and bled them up there.
Loads of bubbles came out instantly!

Finished off by lowering and fitting to forks and bleeding off as normal.
Repeated the following day to get the last trapped bubbles.

(I did buy a "one person bleed kit" from Halfrauds but it's sh1t, didn't work at all and I lost the receipt!
If I rebuild again I'll definitely consider some form of syringe/pump system)

Try a syringe and send the fluid up the other way, then bleed as normal with a tube in a jar with a bit of fluid in the bottom.

as you can see in this instructions sheet, new cleaned parts reserve as rule problems of bleeding..
