Brake Disc/Pad Wear
Brake Disc/Pad Wear
Hey guys,
I got back from a fairly big ride last weekend (80 miles), and noticed that the inside of one of my front discs still had areas in its circumference that still had a little rust on them, I would say around 50% - making me thing that there had been no contact from the pad in these areas. Any ideas what could be the cause? I haven't taken the pads out to inspect, but they look like they have a lot of wear left...

Stuck piston - sounds like its time for a brake service. Strip down em down, fit new seals and clean off / replace corroded pistons.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Yep sounds like you have a stuck piston.
Bring it to me I have all the tools to strip the callipers down & refurb...PM me if you want to come over.
All you need is the fuel to get here, an hour or so to do the work, a bottle of fresh brake fluid new seals & pistons if you want to go the whole hog & of course biscuits...

Cor I shall never forget the first time I stripped my callipers down. The fluid had caramelised into thick gooey toffee.

Re: Brake Disc/Pad Wear
If a piston or two has seized that much you'll not recognise the brakes once they've been fully serviced

Wall J has been & gone leaving a trail of distruction in his wake, hasn't come back yet with bits of broken fairing in his mitts so the brakes must work OK.
