VANSTUB...

who knows best K tech or Brookes suspension*.... I'll tell you...K tech, no question. they also agree with my findings which I came to 16 years ago, before this forum and before K tech..

Race tec are known to quote spring rates that are too heavy.

I'll say it for the last time.... for you type of riding and weight 0.85kg springs...

*Brookes suspension rebuild suspension as far as I'm aware, they are basically a service centre not a suspension specialist, whereas K tech, Maxton etc do the lot and Are suspension specialists. Brookes are probably just quoting the racetec rates from a chart

Ive found it to be bang on. Static sag and rider sag have been perfect. Both road and dirt.

Unless you weigh considerably more than average, I'd be tempted to listen to popkats advice.

As a matter of interest, what is the rate(s) of the stock spring? Is it dual rate?

Do not drop down more than another 3mm max

I have run the forks 10mm through before Roger, that was on the one I raced a bit and it had a steering damper, I did pull it back to 5mm when I sold it though..
I don't think i'll drop these anymore now anyway though as I can adjust the ride height on the WP shock.

Just bought some (Wirth) for the TRX but not sure if they're good, bad or indifferent as not fitted yet. Mine had K-Techs supposedly fitted, but the front isn't the best, might have been for an 8st rider and they are almost 20 years old! Let you know if they make a positive difference.
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Not sure K tech were around 20 years ago, if they were then it was early days and I doubt they were selling fork springs. iirc they started out on dirt bike suspension then moved to road race bikes before doing road stuff.

Sorry mate, should have been clearer - the bike is 20 years old, not sure when the replacement fork springs were put in but the front is decidedly soft even with new fork oil in (standard weight/air gap)
