Plus 1 for what Hallie said - "D.I.D" all the way! A well tried and proven, reliable chain.
This is what I use:
DID X Ring Gold chain and standard teeth front and rear sprocket kit. (Available on eBay from bikextremeUK, which is C&J Wilson (Uphall Ltd) in Edinburgh, Scotland).
£99.95 for the kit, and FREE P&P - you probably won't find this kit much cheaper! (To buy just the 102 link DID50VXGB chain will cost about 80 quid)
Link to website: Gold DID X-ring Chain and Sprocket Kit HONDA VTR1000 FIRESTORM 1997 - 2005
The X ring chain has different shaped O ring inside (Usually, you get "O" ring chains, but the rubber rings in this chain are X shaped - to hold the chain lube better and last longer.)
Front Sprocket: 16 Tooth
Rear Sprocket: 41 Tooth
Chain: DID50VXGB - 102 Links (Comes with soft rivet link).
JUST the chain is gold - the sprockets are standard steel, and will more likely be made by "JS"

Re: Chain and Sprocket - yes again!!!
I use a heavy duty d.i.d chain, sprockets all seem to be of decent quality, if iirc the d.i.d chain is a zvm, i'll have to check.
seems to be more that up for the job.

D.I.D gold with standard tooth sprockets every time
SO WHEN DOES THIS OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER KICK IN
Re: Chain and Sprocket - yes again!!!
Thanks gents! Time to spend some money.
Re: Chain and Sprocket - yes again!!!
Buy a cheap chain and you will pay twice as it will last half as long, if not less, than a better quality known branded more expensive chain. You can't go go wrong with DID.
