Fully comp or 3rd party

Post by BigD »

Hi guys, long time no post. Bike insurance is due for renewal, not sure what to do and a few opinions might help.

Bike is worth about £2k. Excess is £300. I don't commute on it.

- £194 TPF&T
- £362 FC

What would you do?

Fully comp all the way.

look here

Also if it's worth £2k put down the value of £2.5K

Thats what I thought, and it is down at £2500. Seems a good price too, got other quotes which were all over £500 for fc.

Sounds a great price. I'm 34, 1 yr no claims, 1 yr continuous riding, don't live in a city.

Comes down to whether you can afford to simply pop out & buy another one if this one gets pinched or whatever. If money's not an object, why bother? Take your chances. If you'd be lost without your Storm, then insure it.
If you ate yourself would you become twice as big or simply disappear?

mmmmmmmmmm i have tpft the reason is that the fully comp excess is just crazy £500 and by the time i would loose my no claims it means you wont claim unless its at least a grand :(

with the prices on fleebay now for 2nd hand bits i am playing the calculated risk 8)

i pay £191 for two bikes tpft but i am 143 years old and stay in crime free green belt scotland (crime free , ha ha)

youre doing well to be even riding a storm at your age, they've been trying to stop people as young getting onto big bikes, with things like direct access. and as your finding, extorsionate insurance.

you start riding when you were 16?, did your 2 years on restricted lisence and get the storm after that.

Thats who the quote is with. They were by far the cheapest for me as well. Went for Fully Comp in the end, hope it was the biggest waste of money ever
