don't these two things have completely different purposes?

one collects tiny bits of swarf and the other is supposed to make oil changes easier.

im going to get a magnetic oil plug when I next do an oil change.

Looks like you're going to buy one in any case and we still haven't answered your original request - what a bunch of wonkers we are. If I get time I'll remove mine tonight and measure it, even if this means getting a few splashes of oil on the garage floor.
If you've over-cooked it, just lean it over more.

No it's coz they aren't that brilliant an idea.

You undo a bolt & the oil comes out. You drain it into a receptacle, put the bolt back in & refill with oil...It's not hard Chric, why waste your money on something that only avoids undoing 1 bolt ? ( after you have taken the belly pan off if you have one...)

+ there's the point Hawk made re the tightness... 8O

Anyway next month you'll be selling the bike again...maybe...or not...

Looking over the thread i still think it's not a good idea. I prefer getting a nice splash of warm liquid on my fingers and then checking the magnet for any debris. I also know when it is refitted with a new washer and torqued down it won't come undone.
