Hello all, its getting close to the time to replace my Chain and sprockets, I'm wanting to fit a good quality Gold chain and also I'm wanting to replace the front sprocket with a 15 tooth sprocket (-1less) to increase the pick up, ive looked at a few suppliers and basically I'm asking for recommendations on brands and also if I go 1 tooth less on the front sprocket does that mean I have to go 1 up on the rear ?.
Thanks for any help and advise guys

Personally I favour a bigger rear sprocket rather than a smaller front. Reducing the front sprocket size makes the chain works harder IMO, it has to turn in a tighter radius.
Fitting a 43 tooth rear sprocket is a better option (that's two teeth bigger than the original 41 tooth sprocket).
Remember though, altering the gearing will put the speedo readings out. A speedo healer will correct that.
Not to sure which is the best chain, an "X" ring will be directing you in the right direction. Someone else should be able to advise on that.
Chris.

Tsubaki is probably the most popular quality chain we sell at work.

Thanks for the advise, cheers Chris

I would only go +1 on the rear and leave it stock size front, speedo won't be far out and pick up will be better, Tsubaki chains are good, DID zvm good but expensive, RK GXW good and cheaper than DID. Any chain you see at a cheap price will be cheap, not all DID's are the same

Re: New Chain and uprated sprockets -/+ 1 teeth
I have not long ago fitted one of these to my bike and I have to say what a superb chain. I have not needed to adjusts it yet, whereas the last chain (cheapest crap on eBay) I was adjusting every couple of hundred miles and it didn't last long. Saying that though, I am now using a scottoiler whereas before I didn't, so that helps.Tsubaki is probably the most popular quality chain we sell at work.

+1 for a 43 rear rather than a 15 front, a 15 front is borderline to small and will not last, re quality it's simple buy cheaper replace more often,
I've now gone all European and bought a KTM Superduke GT and Aprilia RSV1000R ,
