Unfortunately the NHS do not let you keep any metal work these days due to the risk of infection...
I already asked that question when they took the other one out...
Its a blanket ban apparently, spose they are scared of litigation...

I've had the one's in my arm out and best thing for it, the ones in my ankle are there for life- pain in the butt going through those new airport scanner's.

Good luck with the op Mac, I reckon you'll be off work for a while as they cut through the muscle so that needs to heal...So Lots of wrist exercises to aid the healing
