Linkage Bearings

Post by Mav617 »

Hi,

Took the Hound for a shake-down ride yesterday and the rear suspension is deffo knackered. It's on the lowest preload setting and the rear is rock hard so guess I might as well get the linkage stripped and the pivot bearings replaced. Also replace the shock.

Priced up the bearings using Kit's helpful thread in the knowledge base, and at David Silver prices it's the thick end of £100. Did anyone else get the roller bearings elsewhere cheaper - or is the advice to suck it up and buy the Honda parts? (Part #'s - 91072-KT7-003, 91071-KV3-005)
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Have you checked the rebound screw on the bottom right of the shock near the linkages. Turn this towards the minus.

Mav,

I bought mine from Lancashire seals on eBay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/160739977450?va ... 1439.l2649
http://www.ebay.com/itm/161050319260?ss ... 1439.l2649
http://www.ebay.com/itm/400532432749?va ... 1439.l2649

Total GBP51.80 not including shipping for all the bearings and seals for the linkage.

yeah, thats what i did, bought a linkage set and rebuilt it, new bearings etc. much easier to do it this way, plus, you dont have to worry about the bike maybe going off road coz of a broken bolt etc...
