I wouldn't worry just yet mate - I'm still waiting the results of the compression test. Daz is 99% certain of bent/sticky valve...

Compression is OK 140/150

Daz thinks it can only be the pickup - fingers crossed!

Nope - it's not the pickup, I broke down just outside the workshop. But, she runs fine on an external tank. Turns out - if you suck on the vac take off manually all is good. So after all that it appears the vac line is split/perished and leaking. Daz fitting a new one Monday. Fingers crossed.

Glad you found it.... Just like I found, when you run low on fuel flow to the carbs it goes onto one cyl as it feeds one carb more than the other (due to the different height of the float bowls ) and leaves you sure it's electrical

Really enjoyed this thread. Nearly half way through, my suggestive thought was to take both fuel lines from carbs and insert to clear bottles, using a syringe to control the petcock to check the flow... then I started changing my mind when reading the tests that have been carried out, especially with a change of carbs.

Almost dramatic...
I'm not death to power tools... If it breaks, it's obviously NOT a power tool!!!

Well - got a good 20 miles after picking it up. 99.9% sorted [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH] I had one misfire after pottering round a car park at minimum throttle, but almost entirely full throttle shenanigans - saw 120 and pulling like a train. Daz has "T'd" both vac lines to the tap - and it has enough to open it. I think there's a lump of crap or a leak in vac hose. Time for a new one. But a marginal problem. There is a video on my Facebook. :-)
