Another Swingarm brace, with a twist,, under slung caliper
Re: Another Swingarm brace, with a twist,, under slung calip
Very nice job I'm impressed how you have taken time and made up jigs etc to make sure the brace is in the right place before you start welding it to the swingarm, very professional

Believe it or not, the jig was a time saver, not just extra time for better fit.
I took several hours and many dozens of fittings of the brace to swing arm.. getting it back in the same spot to check fit and progress was difficult and time consuming prior to the jig.. 30 min to build the jig saved my much more in time than that.. PLUS it perfectly located it for welding today.

I don't doubt that for one minute, but it's surprising how many think making a jig makes the job longer, not the other way around.E.Marquez wrote:

Back from welding at a friends house...
Got to say it's good to have friends...
Just had to mount it up and see how it looked
You'll have to excuse the dirt and grime.. Have not even started cleaning up that area of the bike yet. Came home and did some sanding on the swingarm.. then tossed it on to have a look....
Not bad.... now to decide on a powder coat color,,, silver... gloss black,,, satin black... gunmetal....textured black....
That and need to order a longer brake line....... no way the stock Stainless Steel braided one will fit.

Swingarm and caliper bracket off to powder coating.. Satin Black was the chosen color. Should be back on Sat.
Polished the strut
Now it's time to clean up the bike and parts..
Nasty few months of road grime and chain lube.
Starting to get better

What's the triggered Blue plastic handled tool in front of the WD and what type of cleaning products do you use for the engine cases? I find it very satisfying having the opportunity to get in and clean bits that one can't normally get to.

LOL.. it's a lighter.... Fricking cold here in Texas last few days
WD40, rag, brushes pretty much gets the big part of the job done. Then some wiping up with more clean rags and a degreaser.

Well not much accomplished today ... last two days and tomorrow Im stuck in a riding school,, so I can become a certified Training instructor.. Required to take the basic class with in 12 months of application Ummm the basic course for me was 1984 .. and the advanced and Sport bike course I do every year dont count ..
Anyway... found a package waiting on me after class today..
Core Moto came though in record time for a custom line end to end.
Powder Coat'er txt me today and said, in the oven, but not done till late tonight....
So not going to get it together in a late night session of wrenching so I can take it to class tomorrow..
But after class.... I will pick up parts.... and the finial build will take place...
