Burning Smell
Burning Smell
Hi guys,
Just looking for your advice for my poor storm .
On the way to work this morning I noticed a strong burning smell coming from the bike, but no smoke or anything. Smells like a cross between oil and electrical, but I can't find any oil leaks and everything looks good. Stopped the bike and the smell stopped. Noticed a bit of coolant leaking out of the overflow pipe, but the temp gauge was on a quarter the whole way in and it did not want to start this morning (though it was a chilly 20 degrees ), had to actually put the choke on to keep it going, until it warmed up a bit and even then it wanted to stall.
The smell started in the first few minutes of riding.
Just kicked it over and I can't smell it now. Have I gone insane, or more possibly was I already insane and just sobered up a touch??
thanks in advance guys.
Nathan..

Morning all, or well really good night for some
An update on my storm. no burning smell on way home last night, but it started up again on the way to work this morning!! But not as strong. I figure something is pooling somewhere that I have not found yet, (narrows it down I know ), Guess I'll keep looking and pull it apart tomorrow when I have some time.
Have a stunning time

Hi guys,
Been wandering around for a while, but finally had time to log on and excite you all with the details of me finally working out what the burning smell was. Pulled the entire fairing off, checked everything and jammed up behind the front pot was the remains of a micro bat. (As in the type that fly at night) Guess it must have gotten wedged there on my last long ride, which was a night run on the highway and I remember seeing bats flying around me, guess this one zigged when he should have zagged The heat of the engine must have been crisping the little fella
Ah well, at least it wasn't expensive. and it explains the ants

Birds and bats flying across your path always adds a little spice to the ride. I've had near misses with a rather large wedge tail eagle and a cane pheasent in the last few month. I guess they wanted to make sure my heart was beating
