What's a pay rise ? Can't remember the last one.

To play devil's advocate here, an MP gets paid 65k a year, which, for some MPs such as the PM and other cabinet ministers is peanuts.

There will be a few MPs who don't deserve that much, but there will also be lots of them that work 12 hour days 7 days a week. I wouldn't want that job.

At the end of the day, 65k for a job like that isn't a lot. Lots of them could earn a lot more in the private sector, which basically means that the only ones left working as MPs invariably will be the poor quality ones that can't get other jobs.
