Speedo swap to mph

Post by Pem Brooke »

Bringing my VTR from Ontario when we move to the UK. The speedo over here in in KPH so I guess I'll need to swap it for a MPH speedo, in order to pass the MOT. Bike is a year 2000...before the digital speedo's.
Is it an easy swap? Anything I should be aware of? Is the speedo and the rev counter one unit?
I'll start looking on the forum for the spare part ...no rush, coming back in March (just in time for riding season!!

Don't think it matters, speedo is not part of the mot.

No defence if you get caught speeding mind.

Easy swap. Pull the fairing off and it's just three bolts.
You can do it with the fairing on, but it's hard to get the wiring back properly, easier with the fairing off.
The unit is integral, coolant temp, speedo and rev counter in one.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Not needed for mot, and you can just get a conversion sticker like all the eu imports we have here already

I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!
