I had read the rectifier not having the fins contributed to the rectifier overheating and frazzling the semi-conductors preventing them from being able to fluctuate the current accordingly, it will be changed in due course but as the initial tests show it to be working within tolerances, I am going to concentrate on other aspects such as CCT, plugs, carbs and air filters first. The most recent service was barely 400 miles ago and oil looks nice and clean, just don't know what oil is in it so that'll be the job after the others...

Other things it will have in due course; Polished rims, re-sprayed sub frame and fairing mount, possibly replace fork stanchions (if pitted too bad when I go to service them properly) and re-spray fork base, and the headers need to be sorted one way or the other... metal is a-flaking around the rear cylinder flange so undecided whether I want to attempt to dismantle and try to clean or might wait a few months so there's pennies in the bank, buy a second hand set and take them to a lad not far from me who polishes for a living and fantastically good at it he is too...

In time, it will have tasteful upgrades added although I'm not sure what yet as the front calipers seem responsive but the back, not so good at the mo. Have changed the disc and pads but yet to run fresh fluid through (due to excessive rain here at the mo, don't want that getting in there now do we?!) so haven't decided if the single pot caliper is crap or if previous brake changers just didn't know what they were doing and have a pipe full of air... The next dry spell will give me insight!

But yeah, am loving the VTR right now and with some TLC, I'm sure she'll see me right 12 months of the year for years to come!

I can't help but potch with bikes... It must be in the blood or something
The CBR was bought as a project... couldn't decide at the time whether I wanted to restore or fighter it - many many many pounds later and it now looks like a um, rat-fighter I suppose. But the CBR is getting torn apart again with the engine being used as part of my dissertation next year and frame modifications planned and some PROFESSIONAL spray paint being applied (I can just hear the sound of money falling down the plug hole now )

The game today has had me nervous all week. We'd better find some form or I'll cry. We must be one of the most enjoyable teams to watch when in form, just having difficulty at the moment turning possession into goals but think Laudrup has finally twigged that Britton is the oil that keeps the gears well lubed and functioning efficiently so as long as he starts, our odds will be so much better!

Hi there.
You can still buy new SS headers- last time I looked they were about £180 so not too bad, really. And probably a better grade of stainless than Honda used, although probably thicker and therefore heavier as well.
Sandy bike spares iirc.

I've just sprayed mine with vht paint, scuffed them up to get a key with a drill mounted wire brush.
They look ok but let's see how they last over the winter.

I'm not too fussed, tbh, as I have a spare header set anyway, plus I'll be making my own big bore exhaust over the winter- all will become clear when i post the details in due course, once the work's completed and it runs.
